We Need Your Help

We are asking for your help this year to offset the money needed for WSNC President’s and Signature Members’ Awards. These awards recognize artistic achievement, and are prized by the recipients. As an incentive to members to donate toward these awards, there will be a $50 raffle at our Annual Meeting. For every $10 a member donates, they will receive one ticket to win this raffle. If you contribute $50, you will have five tickets in the drawing. Please help us by donating toward these awards. The odds of winning will be pretty good! If you can donate $100 or more, your name will be listed in the Exhibition Program and in the 2017 Exhibition Catalog as a Bronze level contributor.

If you know of an organization or business that might want to sponsor the WSNC annual event with a significant donation, please contact Local Chairman, Laura Poss, at (336) 239-9061, or laura@lauraposs.com . A Sponsor will be listed prominently in the Exhibition Program and the Exhibition Catalog. The Exhibition Catalog offers targeted exposure, as it goes to all current WSNC members, and it is used for marketing WSNC. A sponsor will have a free, quarter-page ad in each of the WSNC quarterly newsletters, The Palette Dispatch—this newsletter is read by artist members throughout the state.

All donations must be received by October 1st to be listed in these publications.

Thank you in advance for your donation of $10 or more.

Please click the Donate button at the top of this page for more information about using our online form or mail-in form to make donation.

Still Life, Portrait and Figures with Mary Whyte”

Workshop Dates: October 16 - 18, 2017
Art room at Greensboro College, Cowan Bldg.

Explore the wonders of watercolor with an inspirational three-day workshop in Greensboro, NC. Mary will cover the fundamentals of getting a likeness, planning dynamic compositions, mixing clean colors, achieving value balance, and creating paintings with emotion. Her daily demonstrations from life and one-on-one assistance will guide you to making your best paintings ever.

Mary Whyte is a watercolor artist, teacher, and author whose figurative paintings have earned national recognition. Her portraits are in corporate, private and university collections and in permanent collections of South Carolina Greenville County Museum of Art and the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston. She has been awarded the Portrait Society of American’s Gold Medal. Her work has been seen featured in International Artist, American Artist, The Artist’s Magazine, and American Art Collector magazines. She magnificently captures the living Gullah heritage and culture of rural life around Sea Islands and marshlands of the SC low country. She shares customs and traditions of community, food ways, music and spirituality that have survived and evolved for two centuries. She paints a South Carolina as a kingdom of her own as both a writer and painter.
