2017 Western Region Demo

Headline/Title: Watercolor Demonstration Event in Asheville, September 29

 The Western Region of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina invites WSNC members and all others interested in watercolor painting to come to the First Baptist Church in Asheville on September 29, 2017, from 10 AM to 2 PM, to see three well-known North Carolina watercolorists demonstrating their techniques.  Ann Vasilik, Judy Rider, and Al Junek will be simultaneously demonstrating their skills and answering questions about the medium as attendees circulate from easel to easel.  A luncheon will follow the morning demonstrations, with plenty of opportunity to soak up inspiration from fellow artists.

 The event takes place in the lunch room on the second floor of the church.  There will be opportunity to see the wonderful architectural features of the historic building.

 Fee: $20 (covers demonstrations and lunch)

Hickory artist Judy Rider teaches watercolor technique classes for Catawba Valley Community College. She is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, the Southern Watercolor Society and the Watercolor Society of NC. Her website is www.judyarts.com

Ann Vasilik watercolor painting

 Asheville artist Ann Vasilik is known for her urban scenes and enjoys demonstrating her techniques. She has completed many paintings in under an hour for various fund raising events and looks forward to the challenge in September for the WSNC.

Al Junek watercolor painting, Watercolor Society of North Carolina

Al Junek of Hendersonville, NC began painting in 1989, increasingly drawn to landscapes that are often set in mist, fog or other atmospheric effects.  He is a member of the Art League of Henderson County, the Appalachian Pastel Society, and a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society and the WSNC.

2017 Paint-Out at Grandfather Mountain

Members of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina had a wonderful time painting, wine-tasting, and picnicking at the Grandfather Vineyard in Boone on Monday.  We hope to do it again next year!




2016 Western Region Show

Works from over 20 artists from the Western Region of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina  were exhibited at the Wilkes Gallery in North Wilkesboro from

May 27th through June 25th. At the opening reception on May 27th, Martha Moore’s painting “Glen Falls” was voted People’s Choice. 





2015 Western Region Show
